Trixie Mattel Catalog
Professor: Paul Sheriff

A catalog inspired by and about the world-famous singer, drag queen, comedian, and business owner Trixie Mattel,  taking design influences from the ‘60s mid-century modern design aesthetic and Trixie herself.

Trixie Mattel is a drag queen from Milwaukee who has played a very big role in my life, and when I was given the chance to make an artist catalog, I immediately knew it had to be about her. Trixie has an extremely distinct brand and aesthetic, pulling from many influences and inspirations. She loves the 60s mod aesthetic and this is evident in her costumes, hairstyles, and iconic makeup look. She also loves Barbie dolls and is deeply inspired by them, hence her name and pink/blonde trademark. Additionally, she loves country and folk music and creates it herself.

Trixie is the accumulation of all of these things combined into one talented drag superstar, and I wanted to make sure all of these influences were taken into consideration when designing my catalog. The patterns, fonts, and bold shapes lend themselves to the ‘60s mod movement, which was my main inspiration. The color palette lends itself to her love for Barbie and country music, with bold pinks and warm tones. Get into it, honey! ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪
