C&E Craft Internship
2022; Oaks, Pennsylvania

My design internship in Summer of 2022, where I designed two different interactive candle lines and redesigned the company’s packing tape.

I had the privilege of interning at C&E Craft Company in the Summer of 2022. C&E Craft is a business that specializes in candles and car fresheners, and is known for creating very fun and engaging lines and scents that excite consumers!    During my time at C&E, I created two different candle lines with interactive elements. I also redesigned the company’s packing tape that is used on every package! For the candle lines, I was given the theme, and then had tons of creative freedom when it came to the designs of the labels. This was such an amazing and fun experience, and it was so exciting to see the lines I created being promoted online and purchased by customers.    The first candle line that I worked on was the Cocktail Candle line. For this specific line, 11 different labels and scents were created, each inspired by a popular cocktail! We incorporated many different types of beverages, so there was something for everyone. One thing that made this collection super special, was that we wanted to put the ingredients and instructions for each beverage on the label, meaning that consumers could have fun making the designated cocktail while burning a yummy candle of the same scent.
When it came to the designs for these labels, I knew that I wanted them to be fun and bold, but still clean and cool. I gave each drink a unique color palette and illustrated each beverage, along with its designated ingredients. This ended up being one of my favorite projects that I have ever worked on, and the whole process was so exciting, especially with it being my first big professional project!

The second candle line I designed was the Playlist Collection. For this line, I designed 8 different labels and curated 8 corresponding playlists based on their scent and theme. We included Spotify codes on each of these labels, so customers would be able to listen to the designated playlist while burning their candle!
This was a super fun collection to design, especially with the playlist element added. I love music, and I create playlists for literally every occasion possible, so I was thrilled to be able to take on this project. For these designs, I knew I wanted the typography to have the same energy that Spotify’s branding had, which was bold, sans-serif fonts. I researched color theory a lot for this project and chose colors for each candle that evoked the feeling of what they were trying to represent.

The final project that I completed during my internship was a redesign of the company’s packing tape. When designing this, I wanted to make sure the elements I added meshed well with the brand’s logo and image. I created various illustrations of products that the brand carries, such as candles, wax melts, essential oils, and room sprays. Then, I put them in a toss pattern with the logo and some cute sparkles. I think this tape perfectly encapsulates the brand and is a great preview of what you will be opening when you receive your package!
Overall, I had an amazing time during my internship at C&E Craft. I was able to exercise lots of creative freedom while still being challenged and required to follow specific prompts and themes. I love how interactive each of the lines I designed were, and the entire process from start to finish was so exciting, educational, and engaging!
